Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Aupito William Sio to attend Our Ocean Conference in Palau

Minister for Pacific Peoples, and Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Aupito William Sio is in Palau to attend the Our Ocean Conference.

The 2-day conference held across 13-14 April, will be jointly hosted by the Republic of Palau and the United States. This is the first occasion for a Pacific country and a ‘Small Island Developing State’ to be selected to co-host the conference.  

 Prior to departure, Minister Sio mentioned that the Pacific is central to the lives, cultures and wellbeing of Aotearoa and our Pacific whanau.The Ocean Conference provides an opportunity to spotlight New Zealand’s Pacific leadership in conservation efforts and to reiterate our commitment to sustainable utilisation of ocean resources.
