Join in the ‘Arts of Moana Oceania’ Journey

Pacific Cooperation Foundation is delighted for the second year to partner with the Lagi-Maama Academy and Consultancy in the delivery of ‘Arts of Moana Oceania’ - ‘Tok Stori Tuesdays’ - Phase III’, 2022 series.  

 The series continues this year, with epistemologists / knowledge holders from the Pitcairn Islands, Tahiti, Banaba, Nauru and First Nations Australia.  

Join in the ‘Arts’ journey every Tuesday in May 2022, to hear directly from Moana Oceania’s Onto-Epistemologists on ‘what art is' from their indigenous knowledge and perspective. 

  • The series has commenced with the arts of Pitcairn Islands. The presentation, hosted via Zoom on 3 May, featured the ‘Ahu Sistas’ – Jean Clarkson, Sue Pearson, Dr Pauline Reynolds and led by Pitcairn islander Meralda Warren.   

  • The next session will feature the arts of Tahiti, presented by Jean-Daniel Tokainiua Devatine who is a Professor at the Centre des Métiers d’Art de la Polynésie française.   

  • Renowned interdisciplinary scholar, activist and artist Katerina Teaiwa, Professor of Pacific Studies and Deputy Director - Higher Degree Research Training in the School of Culture, History and Language, will lead the tok stori on what art is from a Banaban perspective.   

  • The series will conclude with onto-epistemologists / knowledge holders from Nauru and First Nations Australia
