Te Maeva Nui
Beginning on 29 July, Te Maeva Nui is a week-long cultural, dance and food festival in the Cook Islands. It is a world-renowned event and after two years of lockdowns, borders have opened up and the event is back on.
In the islands, the Cooks are known for their friendliness as well as their amazing dancing! This is why the Te Maeva Nui event is one that everyone looks forward to. Te Maeva Nui literally means ‘ the Big Celebration’ and that is exactly what it is – often shutting down the islands. Participants from all of the Cook Islands come together to compete in a visual showcase, celebrating the Cook Islands independence through arts, music, dance, sports, food and more.
Please note that tickets to this year’s event can only be purchased while you are on the island. Online ticket sales will not be available. For more information on purchasing tickets, you can email toni.moeroa@cookislands.gov.ck OR odile.urirau@cookislands.gov.ck OR CALL +682 20725
