Hina Sings: An Exhibition by Sue Pearson & Pauline Reynolds

Heritage Gallery Te Koputu a te Whanga a Toi Saturday 5 November 11am Whakatāne Galleries at Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi Whakatāne Galleries warmly invites you to the opening reception of Hina Sings.

Hina Sings is an exhibition by artists Sue Pearson and Pauline Reynolds that was created during a time when borders were slammed shut, and Sue and Pauline were separated from their homeland, Norfolk Island. A conversation began during long walks over the lands they were living on: Sue in Whakatāne, Pauline on Anaiwan Country, Australia. From this space, or vā, of absences, grew exchanges about identity, tupuna, and the learning and transmission of ancestral knowledge. From a time of closure blossomed the conceptualisation of this exhibition.
