Billy Cava

One of the Pacific Climate Warriors under 350.org in New Caledonia, Billy Cava knows the importance of keeping climate change at the forefront of conversations. He uses his natural skills as a communicator to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change in the Islands. “Talanoa is our way, the Pacific way and this is who we are as Pacific Islanders and we talk about things.”

An indigenous Fijian “iTaukei”, Billy Bulababulva Cava was born and raised in New Caledonia.

Billy is passionate about keeping the world’s remaining fossil fuels in the ground and looking at alternatives - to lessen the impact of global warming.

As Pacific Climate Warriors, we want to hold the world accountable. We demand that the world move away from fossil fuels and invest in 100% renewables, not just for us, but for generations to come.

We are fighting for our future. We want our children to be able to live where we live, to learn about our traditions, our culture.

Billy is passionate about indigenous people being included in the climate change conversation, being the peoples most affected. He fights to uplift indigenous voices in a landscape where they are often excluded from decision making.

We indigenous people will keep telling our stories until we see the shift in consciousness the world needs to see in this crisis.
